About Webshot
Webshot is a free tool for capturing a clean, full-page screenshot of any public website — on desktop, tablet, or mobile, exactly as it renders in a real browser. No account, no watermark, no software to install. Paste a URL, pick a format, and download the image.
It is built and maintained by Tuxxin, an independent software studio in Florida, USA, and is part of the wider Tuxxin Suite of small, fast web utilities. Webshot has captured tens of thousands of pages for designers, QA engineers, marketers, support teams, and developers who just need a screenshot without the friction.
Why we built it
Most "free" screenshot tools aren't really free. They put the good output behind a login, stamp a watermark across the image, cap you at a tiny resolution, or push you onto a monthly plan before you can download a single PNG. Taking a quick, honest screenshot of a web page had become surprisingly annoying.
We wanted the opposite: open the page, type a URL, get the full image. Webshot renders the target site in a real headless Chrome browser — including JavaScript, lazy-loaded images, web fonts, and dynamic content — then hands you the result with nothing in the way. The same capture engine powers both the website and a free public API, so the tool you use by hand is the exact tool you can automate.
What Webshot does
- Full-page or viewport capture — grab the entire scrolling page, or just the visible fold.
- Device emulation — render at desktop, tablet, or mobile widths to see responsive layouts.
- Multiple formats — export as JPG, PNG, WebP, or a print-ready PDF.
- Real browser rendering — headless Chrome via Puppeteer waits for the page to settle before capturing, so JS-heavy single-page apps come out right.
- A free API — automate captures from your own scripts with a single HTTP request and no API key. See the developer docs.
Common uses include archiving a page as legal or compliance evidence, documenting bugs in QA, building visual-regression baselines, grabbing competitor landing pages, and previewing how a site looks across devices. Our use-case guides walk through several of these in detail.
Privacy by design
Because there is no account, there is almost nothing to collect. We log your IP address only to enforce a fair rate limit, and the screenshots you generate are deleted from our servers as soon as you download them — or within an hour if you don't. We never sell data and we don't track you across the web. The full details are in our Privacy Policy.
